Good morning members and friends of St. John’s UMC!
This coming weekend worship will be on the radio again @ 9:00 on station 1420 am; We will have a link on Facebook and our website to join us at 10:00.
Scripture text: John 11:1-26
Message: “Jesus Gives Us Courage to Walk in the Valley” (Pastor Jeff is preaching)
Memorial Day weekend. A weekend to pay tribute to veterans that have served their country, especially remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives for their country. We recall family members who have died and pause to reach up to God for comfort and strength and grace to navigate the grief in our lives.
This year brings with it a whole new layer of loss. All those who would have been celebrating graduation this month are probably carrying a list of special occasions canceled by COVID19: no prom, no spring sports, no trips, no state tournaments, no commencement (at least not in the normal format). These losses can create a lot of internal hurt and disappointment. The class of 2020 was born right after the tragedy of 9-11. And now they graduate in the middle of the COVID19 pandemic and shutdown of our community. Jesus wants to meet us in the midst of our struggles and give us peace for each day.
I invite you to join worship on Sunday at one of the times listed above.
Pastor Jeff
Announcement: Saturday, May 30 from 9:00 to noon, the Trustees need 12-15 volunteers to help spread mulch around the church gardens. Please contact the church office if you want to help out. (Shane Gross, chair of Trustees is coordinating this effort.) Volunteers can bring wheelbarrows and shovels; face masks suggested.
